A DVD VCR recorder may, at first sight, seem like an ugly combo of old technology with new. However, there are many advantages to be had from a DVD VCR recorder, also known as DVD VHS recorder or DVD VCR combo recorder. Just stick the tap and blank DVD into the machine, press a button and, bingo, you’re ropey old VHS tapes can be consigned to the trash, to be replaced by a shiny, new DVD disc.
Saving space is another advantage of having a DVD VCR recorder. A DVD VCR recorder has one distinct disadvantage over having two separate units and its one that affects every area where technology combines multiple functions into one device.
Put simply, if your VCR breaks, you’ve lost your DVD recorder to. If possible go for a device which records to DVD-RAM as well as DVD-R or DVD+R. This improves the quality of the picture when watching DVD players.
If you have lots of VHS tapes that you want to carry on watching or want to record to
DVD, it’s possible that a DVD VCR recorder could be right for you.

Executive Summary about VCR DVD Recorder by Bradan Kellen
We were quite excited to have the ability to record TV shows and watch them whenever we wanted. My DVD recorder makes the old VCR look like a Victrola! Forget about rewinding. No more waiting for a tape to rewind when I am finished watching it. With the DVD recorder I can begin recording the two-hour program I want to watch while my wife watches her one-hour show. When my wife’s show is over I can hit “Play” on my DVD recorder and start watching my program while it dutifully continues to record the rest of the program for me.
One tap on the “CM Skip” button jumps ahead about 30 seconds on whatever recorded program you are watching. The preview feature is also very cool. If I record a number of shows on one DVD disk, the DVD can display a number of smaller “virtual” screens on my TV all at the same time, each one showing a preview of one of the shows I recorded. Basically, I consider my DVD recorder as a VCR on steroids.

Executive Summary about DVD Recorder by Nam Sing Then
DVD recorders work by “burning/etching” via a laser to a blank DVD disk. Still, a DVD recorder resembles and functions very much like a VCR. All DVD recorders can record from any analog video source. DVD recorders are provided with AV inputs as well as onboard TV tuner for recording TV shows directly. They come in different configurations: Standalone, DVD Recorder/VCR Combo or DVD Recorder/Hard Drive Combo units.
Unlike DVD Writers which comes as internal add on card in a PC, the standalone DVD recorders cannot read or write computer data. The great advantage of a DVD Recorder over a DVD Writer is that in order to record video and audio through a PC, the user has to save the video in the computer’s hard-disk using Fire wire, USB, or S-Video using a video card and then copy the resultant files from the hard-disk onto a blank DVD disk, whereas a DVD recorder can record from video sources in real time, directly to blank DVD.
Standalone DVD recorders do not come with drivers that connect directly to a PC. Copying and Piracy Possibility in DVD Recorders
To check software piracy DVD recorders are designed to detect the anti-copy signal on commercial VHS tapes or DVDs.
